Accessibility
Urban Algorithm LLC wants the Wordbrush website to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who navigate with a keyboard, a screen reader, or with a need for sufficient text contrast. This statement describes the state of the site as of the review date above, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
Conformance goal
We aim for the Wordbrush website to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. This is a goal we work toward, not a third-party certification.
How we reviewed it
On 2026-07-22 we ran an internal review of the site: automated testing with the axe-core engine against WCAG 2.0, 2.1, and 2.2 (Level A and AA) rules in a real browser, plus manual keyboard-only navigation, heading-structure and landmark checks, and color-contrast checks. The review covered the home page, the terms and privacy pages, the press kit, and the HSK word-list and method article pages.
What is in place
The following were verified during the 2026-07-22 review, after the fixes made that day:
- Body and label text meets the WCAG AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 against its background.
- Every page uses semantic landmarks, a banner or header region, a navigation region where a nav exists, and a single main region for the primary content.
- Headings follow a logical order without skipped levels.
- All interactive controls are native links and buttons. They are reachable and operable by keyboard, and the browser's default focus outline is left intact so the focused element is visible.
- The audio play buttons on the word-list and example-sentence pages carry descriptive labels for screen readers.
- Meaningful images have text alternatives; images that are purely decorative are marked so assistive technology can skip them.
- The rotating screenshot on the home page respects the "reduce motion" setting and stops animating when that preference is on.
- Each page declares its language.
- Comparison and word-list tables use proper header cells.
Known limitations
Accessibility is ongoing work, and some areas can still be improved. The site does not yet include a skip-to-content link, which is a helpful enhancement though not required at Level AA. We also cannot guarantee that every third-party font or embedded resource behaves identically in every assistive technology. We will keep testing and address issues as we find them.
Feedback
If you hit an accessibility barrier on this site, or you use assistive technology and something did not work, please tell us. We treat these reports as a priority and will do our best to help and to fix the underlying problem.
